A Gold Star for Gold Star Hamburgers

Gold Star Hamburgers in Glendale
I had a nice afternoon today. After I ran a bunch of miles in the morn-
ing, I was primed and ready to chow down. So I went online and looked for a restaurant. I wasn't in the mood to spend a lot of money, but I wanted something substan-
tial. Tacos? Rotisserie chicken? Ah, hamburgers! A thick and juicy patty of beef! That's what I wanted! I typed 'hamburger near glendale' into the computer and I reviewed the details for Gold Star Hambur-
gers
in Glendale.

Gold Star Hamburgers is on the

southern end of Brand Boulevard in Glendale, where all the car dealerships are situated. It's very much a neighborhood burger joint, one that I think anyone would be proud to have just down the street from their house. You know the kind of place I'm talking about. In my neighborhood, it's Tops, in yours it might be Jim's, Johnnie's, Dino's, etc.

What I ate:

Hamburger and small Onion Rings (3.15 USD and 3.19 USD respectively). The burger was tasty. The two standout components were the bun and the iceberg lettuce. The bun had a rich, buttery flavor from grilling and the iceberg lettuce was crisp, cool, and refreshing to the palate. The onion rings were delish. They had this insane radioactive orange color to them! They were very lightly coated in batter.

Meal combos are available. Prices start at 5.89 USD for a hamburger, fries, and fountain drink.

Some other items that looked good were the pastrami, breakfast burrito, and fried zucchini.

I really liked the dining room, which was comprised of three rows of booths. It was clean and well-kept. The large south-facing picture windows and comfortable booths invited me to relax and while away some hours in peace. The dining room also seemed to be an ideal location for big groups to hang out in.

Parking: There is a sizeable parking lot behind the restaurant and street parking in the immediate vicinity.

The Bill: 6.89 USD.

My Ratingone star out of four stars (good). Decent food at decent prices. Open Monday to Friday, 6:30 AM to 11 PM, and Saturday and Sunday, 7 AM to 11 PM. CASH ONLY. Drive thru available.
